Accessible Waterways

The Accessible Waterways Association exists to:

Raise awareness of disabled boaters and other waterways users.

Campaign to make UK waterways as accessible as possible for all.

Be a hub of information for all who need to find out about the accessibility of the UK’s waterways.

Liaise with waterways authorities regarding accessibility.

Partner with and support any waterways users with accessibility needs in dialogue with the waterways authorities.

Strive to make links with other third parties such as Sustrans, Local Councils etc to raise awareness of accessibility needs in the vicinity of the waterways and routes to and from.

Challenge the waterways authorities to ensure that accessibility needs are always fully and properly considered when new build, remedial or upgrading works are carried out.
